Legislative Update

I would like to personally thank all those that responded to my plea to notify our House Representative’s to vote YES.  I will be contacting them to thank them for their support.  However we are only half way there and need to continue the work to see that our Senators also vote YES on Senate bill 1507.  Please spread the word to family, friends and co-workers.   I’m asking all to contact the Senators and ask for their support on Capwiz.

It’s very easy to do just go to the national website www.naps.org, click on tab labeled “Legislative Center”, then “Communicate with your lawmakers”.

Thank you all for your support – our future is on the line!

The LTS Issue Brief Is Now Available!

The 2010 NAPS Legislative Issue Brief is now published and posted on the NAPS website.  To download the Issue Brief, click here.

The Issue Brief contains the issues that NAPS urges Congress to take action on.

NAPS' top issue concerns the Postal Service's financial crisis and sensible ways to deal with the situation.

NAPS advocates during the LTS will urge Congress to credit the Postal Service for its $75 billion CSRS pension overpayment and permit the Postal Service to use those credited funds to satisfy its retiree health benefit prefunding obligations.

This is explained in pages 6 - 10 of the Issue Brief.  This is a complicated but very important issue.  Be sure you read this material before you come to Washington.

The link to the Issue Brief is found on the home page of the NAPS website (for easy accessibility by Congressional offices), as well as the LTS page of the NAPS website.

 See you soon in Washington!
